The ancient Japanese art of kumihimo is a form of braiding cords that creates beautiful round, flat, or twisted braids that are perfect for jewelry. While the designs may seem intricate and complex, they are easy to create with the right tools. Kumihimo braids are created using a disk to braid cord in different ways. This starter set gives you everything you need to create a kumihimo jewelry piece from start to finish! The beginner kit includes 1 round braiding disk (6" diameter), ZAP Jewelry Gel, 8 Bob-EEZ No-Tangle Thread Bobbins (2.5" diameter), 1 toggle clasp, 2 jump rings, 2 end caps, 1 pendant slide, and 4 colors of thread in our Rattail Kumihimo Braid Color Mix. The kumihimo disk is just the tool you need to get started. To use, simply wrap the cord or beaded thread around the disk to create a braid. The bobbins will keep all of your Rattail organized during braiding, and the ZAP gel and findings kit will finish off your braid to create a unique piece of jewelry. • KUMIHIMO: This is a traditional Japanese artform of making braids and cords, literally meaning “gathered threads”. Though originally started by finger loop braiding, the interlacing of yarns is now done specially designed round looms.
• GET STARTED: This kit includes everything you need to make your first Kumihimo creation.
