The StuG G assault gun was the most prevalent and utilized in the StuG series, with over 7,700 produced between 1942 and 1945. It employed the hull of the Panzer III M, featuring a low-profile superstructure that made it nearly invisible when concealed in dense terrain. Later models were equipped with the Saukopf, or 'pig's head', gun mantlet, enhancing the gun's armor protection by deflecting incoming shots. A distinctive cupola was added to the StuG G, improving the commander's visibility and setting it apart from the previous StuG F/8. Additionally, Schrzen skirts were installed to provide further protection against enemy handheld anti-tank weapons.
