The G9771 9-Piece HSS Keyway Broach Set is the swiftest and simplest method to create a keyway. A keyway is a slot on a gear, pulley, or shaft that covers the other half of the key extending from the shaft. This set includes five bushings, three broaches, and a shim. The broaches' teeth are ground in a graduated taper, cutting a bit of material at a time as the tool is pushed in. Using an appropriate cutting fluid is recommended. The HSS material, heat-treated for hardness and wear resistance, maintains a sharp edge longer.
